How should I approach this?

Hey! Well, my friend and I decided yesterday (the first day of school) that we were gonna befriend this senior guy this year. Im a guy, she's a girl. All three of us have orchestra together, but he has no clue who we are since we're sophmores and he's a senior. Now, my friend just dropped orchestra, but still wants me to befriend this guy, and I still want to be friends with him anyway. He's nice, funny, and helpful and seems like a good person to hang around with.

Okay, now for my question! How should I do this?? I don't think he really has any friends in orchestra (even though he's pretty popular) so he's kind of alone there. He sat by himself at lunch the other day. So...when should I go up to him and what should I say? I don't just wanna go up and creep him out. Oh, and my friend is being utterly useless...she just kind of wants to leach off of me when I become friends with him. Thanks guys!

  1. If you wanna be his friend, be his friend. Youre other friend is not the boss of you. She can befriend that guy but u stay friends. I feel sorry for that popular person.

  2. Random urges to be friends with people .... this is nice, if only more people felt this way! Absolutely NOTHING WRONG WITH IT ...

Just go over, say hello, what did you think of the practice, the piece of music, etc. Start with what you have in common, the music.

  3. In lunch ask if you can sit with him and start talking about orchestra because that is what you have in common this way he won't think your a weirdo.

    Good Luck!!!

  4. well if you guys have orchestra you have something in common there so whn you're in class you can go up to him n start by introducing yourself and make him feel comfortable if he has no friends there and talk to him about orchestra related stuff n then he should warm up to you and evntaully talk more and more and be friends

  5. You just creeped me out with your story.  Just be friendly with everyone.  As they say treat others how you want to be treated.
