Question:

How should I arrange the experience on this resume?

I'm about to apply to substitute teach and need to revamp my resume. All of my teaching experience including student teaching, teaching outside of a school setting, and earning my certificate took place 10 years ago. My experience over the last 10 years has been out of the teaching realm. How should I arrange the experience on my resume? Should I totally leave out the things I've done over the last 10 years that do not relate to teaching? Thanks.

  1. When I go and make resumes, I always add in everything. Even if it does not have anything to do with the job. It makes you seem like a hardworker and shows more exp.

  2. I would definitely add it in.  Gaps in resumes look too suspicious.  This will show what you have been doing during this time.

    Good luck!

  3. Not all resumes are chronological.  Slant your resume toward what you can contribute to their organization based upon what you've done in the past with a successful outcome then just say the number of years experience.  The resume is just to get an interview.  Chronological stuff will go on the application form if required.  Then, fill in the gaps.
