How should I care for my orchid?

I was recently given an orchid as a gift. While beautiful, this plant looks very fragile. I have no idea what I should do with it, any advice on where to keep it and how much water to give it would be great. It really is lovely and beautiful and I want it to stay alive as long as possible.

When I started growing orchids - I burned wood, put it into water and that is what I feeded my orchids with in summer until it flower - the water must always been thrown out of the tray after watering - they do not like wet feet - put where it gets morning sun - the pot must literaly be too small for the plant - however - the plant must get lots of AIR.   A friend whose orchids are nicer than mine - feeds hers with an orchid food right through the year - every two weeks - non-stop.   I do not feed after flowering - only when summer start until the first blooms.
