How should I convince my dad to take us skiing?

If he is stubborn then it will be hard but i would recomend taking him to Xscape so he can try skiing and i would show him videos and photographs of people skiing to try and get him in 'the mood'.

Also when someone says skiing they immediatley associate it with broken legs or hanging upside down in a tree off pieste, so i would explain how in reality it is safe and you have no reason to worry and if you go skiing you can have professionel ski instructors helping you and showing you what to do. Explain as well, it is a fantastic place to be, on a mountain in a nice resort you have beautiful views and it is relaxing and it is easy and fun exercise.

If the problem is that it is expensive then find some cheap deals on the internet and say "Oh look, this skiing holiday is the same cost as a trip to (where ever)".  You need to say that now since it is later on in the skiing season then it is cheaper but if he wants to ski then he needs to make up his mind soon.

In the end you can't force him, well maybe you can but i would show him skiing videos such as on youtube, i would definetly take him to Xscape (if you live near one) and get him a skiing lesson. He won't hate it, once you start skiing then you love it, so that would definetly help him chance his mind.

Hey Melissa,  SkiMan here!  The best way to convince anyone to do anything is to get them to want what it is you want them to do.  Turn your dad on to skiing, if it is possible, if not maybe he will like some of the activities at a ski resort or nearby areas?  When all else fails their is the alcohol factor and there are bars on the mountain. I skied for the first time a few weeks ago and I am already hooked. I'm so hooked that I bought a pair of skis the other day and can't wait to get them back from the shop after being mounted. I want to get some runs in before the snow melts.

I would suggest showing your dad a few videos from youtube.com of people skiing. It's very fun to watch.

- It's a great way to spend time with your family and socialize

- After skiing you can enjoy a warm drink at the chalet
