How should I deal with living with my boyfriend's mom?

Here is my situation.

I have been with my boyfriend for over 3 years now. He have lived apart, with his mother and together in a little place of our own. His mom offered to let us stay with her so that we can collectively save money. While living with her, she would let her druggie boyfriend and his druggie friends be around the house at all hours of the night. She also has a terrible daughter who speaks in vulgaritys, does strainge things and has outlandish behaivor.

We dealt with this behaivor and stood quiet because we werent paying rent.

Then she decided she wanted all of us to get a bigger house. I was appointed to be the house search girl.

Long story short, i found us a house, we have lived there for about a month, and the only reason why we got it was due to my boyfriend and my credit, she is in sooo much debt and her credit is terrible. She is a pack rat, dirty and now we are all at eachothers throats.

I think she should move out....

My boyfriend and I are being told by family that we should.

What should happen here? We are all on the lease?!

  1. Why should SHE move out? Sure you have better credit, but she is the one paying for it, its in her name and she was nice enough to take you guys in to save money. You both should just get married and move! She sounds like a wack job!

  2. Take yourselves off the lease and change it to her name - then you and your boyf get yourselves a nice place without any of this appaling family.

Tell them that you have no wish to live in such an environment.  If she cares for you both then she should understand.

    xx

  3. You cannot move out.

Your credit is at risk now.

Talk to your landlord and see about getting the lease shortened, or if you can get yourself removed from the lease so that they can stay and you move out. If not, you need to stick it out until the end of that lease, but notify them ahead of time that you will be moving out.

Because of the druggies running around, get replacement doorknobs with keyed locks for your bedroom and closet doors and lock your stuff up. You and your guy can wear these keys around your necks.

When you and the BF come home, hunker down in your own little space and let the rest of it go to heck.

  4. So you knew she was a horrible roommate yet you went and got a bigger place with her anyway?  That makes no sense.  Why would you ever risk your own credit for the housing of a druggie?

I hope you can afford this house on your own.  If you can I would suggest you remove her immediately from your home and focus on straightening out your lives and using her as an example for the type of parent you DON'T want your kids to see.

If you can't afford her moving out you can do one of two things.  1.) Enjoy living with her and the druggies, or, 2.) Enjoy bankruptcy.  Either way, it's the bed you made.  Sorry.

  5. You and your boyfriend should move out for your own good. You and your bf should start looking for a basment suite or an apartment to rent. Its easier since houses cost alot and you only have to pay monthly.

Best of luck finding a place!

  6. my advice is simple.. u made the wrong choice from the beginning..a couple should always live alone..and even if its a tiny place but just the two of u.. she doesn't sound like a good person and has so many issues.. its best u talk to ur bf about it and let him know u two have to move out and  put an end to this senseless  behavior.. it will only make problems bigger if  u two continue to live under the same roof...  as far as the lease.. there is always a price to pay for peace and happiness ..but its worth it at the end.. a sacrifice has to be made..  good luck

  7. Wow - your best bet would be save, save, save and get enough money together for an apartment - far enough where his mother has to call before she comes over lol
