Question:

How should I dry these clothes?!?

I bought a Tommy Hilfiger polo and graphic tee, and both are made out of 100% cotton. If I put them in a dryer on its lowest setting, will the heat still shrink them? The only info that the tag gives is to "Wash dark colors separately and dry promptly." Thanks.

  1. Well, if you are afraid of them shrinking or losing it's shape, handwash them or if you have the handwash cycle on your washer, then use that.  To avoid shrinking, hang them up to dry instead of putting them into your dryer. Instead of using regular detergent, try woolite.  That should help keep your shirts looking newer longer.

  2. I  would put it in for 20 minutes or so, by itself...or, alternately you could always air dry it!

  3. todbod is right on. I do this all of the time, and it works. You need to wash them in cool or cold water though.

  4. The lowest setting on the dryer is right. From what you have stated.

; it seems you have set the timer for too long. 100% cotton must be removed from the dryer while they are still alittle damp to prevent shrinkage.

  5. I would put them in the dryer for 5 minutes on regular setting just to get the rinse wrinkles out.  Then put on a hanger and let dry on the shower curtain rod over night.  Touch up with an iron when it is dry.

  6. Any shirts or jackets that you don't want to shrink just wash them. Then put it on a hanger and let them air dry in your bathroom. Hang them up on the shower curtain rod. Works everytime.

  7. hang your clothes on the laundry line
