How should I email a researcher for some MATLAB code for my final year project?

I'm an undergraduate student doing my final year project on adeptive wavelet image compression

Anyway, the thing here is that my project supervisor asked me to email a researcher who have the MATLAB codes to do such image compression, and he says I must get those code.

I was wondering, if that's even possible for some random undergraduate student to email them asking for their program codes?

Any tips on how should I convince those researchers to give me their MATLAB codes for my final year project?

Give them the name of your project supervisor, and tell them that he requested the codes from you. And make sure you explain in detail why you need them.
