Ok, I painted my wall like a week ago, and I had tape on it to separate colors.. and also because theres going to be a stripe. When I was taking the tape off in some places the paint peeled off with the tape. If I pull at the paint that got peeled off, then it just keeps coming up. How should I fix this? Should I just paint over it, or do I need to peel off the paint and repaint it? Please help!!

  1. You can try to lightly sand around the edges where the paint peeled with some fine grit sandpaper.  (220 preferably)  Wipe the dust off after and paint over it.  Next time, when painting stripes, you need to remove the tape while the paint is still wet so the peeling doesn't happen.  It peeled most likely because the paint dried.

  2. Painters carry a product with them that is called spackling paste....it comes in a small white can and looks like white lard.....you can fill and let dry and sand and paint....if you try and sand now i think you just may keep rolling the paint to a rough state. What you need is to feather with the paste and dry and sand ........then I would follow some of the advice I see about taking the tape off sooner............I see that so much.....my son likes to leave his tape on for a week ....that's usually where you find it.......stuck to the woodwork....I and his mother pull it immediatly and wipe and clean.......just a lot better luck...........speaking of ............good luck to you.

  3. It sounds like you didn't prime the wall first.  That would have helped the paint to stick better.

  4. Buy a can of "Peel Stop". It's made for stopping paint peeling off.  Use a paint brush paint over the edges of the peeling paint. I have used it myself and it really works. I also used it on my wall where you could see fine cracks. Every time I painted the wall when it dried I could still see the fine cracks. So I tried Peel Stop It soaked into the cracks or (edges of peeling paint) and binded it together.

I then repainted the wall and haven't seen any fine cracks since. I highly recommend you try it out.
