How should I go about getting a cheap PS3?

Question

I've never really been a PS3 fan, although for the past month I've wanted to buy a Blu-Ray player. Why not just go with a PS3 for a little extra?

I live with my girlfriend and her parents. I want Blu-Ray and her dad I know is a huge Playstation fan. I figure I'd surprise him with this...

I saw the Metal Gear Solid bundle for $500. Does anybody know of anything cheaper? Is there maybe some store that has a % off coupon or something that would help me save some money? Where should I go for a cheap PS3?

Also, is there some deal going around like there was last year with the 5 free Blu-Ray movies if you bought a PS3 or other Blu-Ray player? Anything similar? I'd really appreciate it.

I'll answer the easier question first.  Currently there are no deals where you can get free Blu-ray movies by buying a Blu-ray player.  Blu-ray won the HD player battle, so there's really no incentives for Sony or other companies to give out free Blu-ray movies.

Besides auction sites or classifieds, there's really no way to get a PS3 for cheap, but you can find ways to get it a little cheaper.  Go to Best Buy and join the Reward Zone membership (it's free).  For every 150 bucks that you spend, you get 5 bucks back.  You can also try Costco or Sam's Club.  You can save some money but the downside is that you'll have to get a bundle package.
