It is the name if a specific theater, but I just want to know in general if I need to do anything special to start him in that area. I know each theater would have their own set of expectations, but generally, what would a parent do for his/her budding child performer?

  1. Not that I'm a FAN at all of Pushing a CHILD, or of Theater parents, as it you say it is a speficic venue, have you connected with them at all?????

Summer is typically a time for YOUTH theater. What we might not know is your definition of "Involved"

In the most simple context, auditions.....

In the darkest context,,, the childs ability to handle rejection, perhaps more,,,YOUR ability to handle any rejection of your child, by any company?

  2. The best thing a parent can do to help their child is to encourage them every step of the way.  Put on mini shows at home where they can sing, dance and act for the family.  Sing and act out songs from favorite Disney flicks like Aladdin, Little Mermaid or Lion King and encourage them to be original with their dance moves.  Get involved with them and help them perfect thier home routine (so they can get used to the idea of a director controlling the scene).  Look up your local rec center and see if they offer any classes in acting/dancing/singing.  As with any aspect of show business, experience is key!

  3. Is that the name of a specific theatre? Since its capitalized, it sounds like it might be...

If you just mean children's theatre in general, best bet would be to look in the newspaper in the living or arts and entertainment section and look for auditions for plays/musicals/etc ...depending on where you live, there may be more opportunities some places than others.
