I want to make a documentary that inspires people to cease visiting/supporting zoos. I want to do this by exposing the raw psych. cruelty, how zoos are marketed as happy places (i.e., with stuffed animals...) and the overall immoral aspects of zoos. Does anyone have some advice for me for how to go about doing this?? I would like to possibly talk to some vets or scientists or something about the psych. impact of zoos. I don't know what else my documentary show feature though. I know I should have some footage of the actual animals at the zoo and interveiws with people that are at the zoo. I am also thinking thaat I will probably need some behind the scene footage, how would I go about doing that?? I would LOVE to hear any ideas that people may have. Thank you SOOO much.

  1. Be sure to have releases for everything, or else you can and will get sued.

Call the nearest university that has veterinary training. Usually teaching places will be generally very open to any kind of media.

  2. first, find people that actually think like you do....good luck

oh, wait talk to PETA...plus, they are pretty reputable...not.

edit: Zookeepers are NOT going to let you interview them based on the purpose of your video. The zoo will NOT let you get "behind scenes footage" based on your goal. It's simple logic really.
