Okay. I'm making a CD/book/DVD case for my friend. The sides will be made out of old records cut into fourths (one forth on either side). The back and bottom will be made from glass pieces. I know how to cut the glass, but how do I cut the records and how should I stick the stuff together?!

  1. You should be able to cut through the records with a stanley knife and a steel ruler to push against. Please cut away from where you are holding, a few people cut themselves slicing through something.

I like your idea though, very original.

  2. Try a scoring the records with a sharp blade and snapping them like drywall against the straight edge of a counter; if they don't break evenly enough, just keep slicing them deeper and deeper until you have your pieces.  As for holding it together, how about drilling everything and installing some rings?
