  1. well it wont hurt your tattoo but it will stain your bedding.I got a cross on my right arm with my mothers birth and death dates. When I awoke the next day the outline of the cross was on my sheets.

  2. Sleeping is really not a big deal.... but yeah, be prepared to have some nasty tattoo peelings/wet ink stains on your bed when you wake up.

  3. Hi Greg,

Sleep normal it will not hurt your tattoo. I have 6 tat's my self and i slept like i always do.

  4. I usually will put a towel under the area that has been freshly tattooed.  It will ooze the first couple nights...so get some "tattoo" sheets...that's what I've done over the years...use one set of cheap sheets for when you have been recently tattooed, otherwise you'll ruin a nice set of sheets.  The tattoo will not distort.  It's going to look gross in the morning, but don't pick it!  Just shower and gently wash it and it'll look normal again.  You're not losing ink when it transfers to the bed, it's already in your skin, it's just excess and oozing.  This will also happen when you apply ointment and then dab the excess off, you'll have a perfect outline of your tattoo on the paper towel.  It's ok, and perfectly normal.  Hope this helps.

  5. I do two things:

Try not to sleep on the area tattooed - hard, but not impossible.

Wear a t-shirt that covers the area.  If you do roll over, the healing skin & lymph might stick to whatever it comes in contact with.  If that's a t-shirt, no big deal - wear it into the shower and slowly peel it off once the scabs soften.  That is *much* more difficult if you stick to the sheets.

I find you only need to do this one, maybe two nights.  Even if you do get "stuck", barring a really nasty, dry ripping off of any stuck cloth you should be fine.

Addendum: The ink on the bed, or whatever, is just some of the extra ink.  It's normal to shed this.  Getting ink to the permanent level is not a precise process, and there will be some "higher up".  This is the ink normally shed over the first week or two.  It happens for everyone, so no worries.  Think of it like pouring a beer and getting a little too much head on it, and pouring off the extra foam.  It's not too much and kind of hard to avoid.

  6. Try to tolerate sleeping on your back or sleeping on the opposite side you normally sleep on. It can be really uncomfortable for your tattoo arm if you sleep on it but it is the best solution.

  7. sleeping on it wont hurt it, you can sleep however you want, just make sure you moisturize it before you go to bed!

  8. Sleeping on a tattoo shouldn't s***w with it. It will probably just be uncomfortable.

Just try to make a conscious effort to not sleep on that side if you are really worried about it.
