I just bought a 400gph Hydor Koralia power head for my 29 gallon saltwater fish tank. I was wondering what is the best way to position this power head? which way should I have it pointed??

  1. idk idk

  2. i have had many of my costumers put them in the back facing side ways toward the middle. and usually two of them at each end of the tank pointing to each other. i would be careful though. too much diturbance in the water can stress the fish/coral/whatever u may have in the tank. good luck

  3. Usually the head is facing going toward the other side from the long length not from the short length.since you don't want high pressure water flow to maybe crack the glass from facing the short length.

  4. I always point the powerhead so that it creates the most ripples on the surface.  The increased surface area increases oxygen in the water.

Don't know much about saltwater tanks though and if that is even desireable.

  5. I believe it depends on what fish you have in there, but definitely not pointing out of the tank ... :P

  6. Ideally you want to have two different flows converging. This creates turbulent flow instead of laminar flow(in one direction). For example have a power head on each side of the tank with their output meeting in the middle, or have the power head crossing the output from your filter source. Hope that helps!
