  1. joe brown says to be sure and swing through your hips!

  2. Flexibility, mechanics, and a wood bat will get you on your way to becoming a better hitter. Now before you look away from this let me explain. I can bet good money that you are not as flexible as a gymnast so until you are you have not done your job on making yourself flexible, which will make it easier for your body to move when you hit the ball and run the bases.

Now for mechanics, you have to video tape your hitting mechanics and learn where you are making errors in the hitting motion. Watch video of how Major League ballplayers hit the ball (go to www.mlb.com or www.youtube.com or google search "MLB First Year Player Draft") and take the quality basics of their mechanics in the videos and apply it to how you hit the baseball. For more info click here http://theprospect09.googlepages.com and see "Hitting With Success" and "Why You Should Hit With Wood."

Good luck with the training! Feel free to email me if you have any questions at theprospect09@gmail.com. Look forward to talking with you.

  3. I'd recommend going to the gym and lifting some weights. It helped my strength and even quickness with the bat!

  4. We all know a skinny kid that somehow hits the c**p out of the ball while muscle bound guys struggle to get it out of the infield. The biggest problem that I see when looking for mechanical flaws is that the hips go at the same time or later then the hands. You lose all your power when you do this. The hips need to turn (belly button to the pitcher) before the hands . This creates the "hold back" of the upper body. Like a rubber band it stores kinetic energy that you then unleash on the ball at the very last second possible. The front leg needs to be straight and stiff as well to have something to hit against. Video tape yourself and watch for the hips and the hands and the strong front side(not a bent front knee). I'll bet you can add a lot of pop right now with out stepping in to the weight room at all. Then once you are doing that adding muscle to your core , legs, wrists hands and forearms will truly benefit you. Good Luck ....hope that helps.
