How should I mount my surround sound speakers?

My house isnt wired for it at all. The speakers (Onkyo HT-SR800 7.1) have a keyhole in the back, but a ledge around them. So if i just hang them on a s***w and run wire, the speaker will cut in to the wire, right? I dont want to buy stands or whatever - would it be better to just use a long s***w so there's room for the wire behind the speaker, or cut out a notch in the rim of the back of the speaker? I did buy seperate wire, but I just plan on stapling it to the wall - we're kinda low-tech and low budget. Also, I have kids and dogs and dont want floor stands.

  1. The wire will be fine. That's quite a nice system for being "low budget".

  2. wrap the wire where it get's cut into with electrical tape or scotch tape, 2, try hanging the speakers slightly obove or below some nice wall art (such as prints paintings, or even mask art, be creative.PS you might landscape your sound with extra speakers hidden  next to furniture, and a mixer Equalizer. Sorry i didn't notice you have pets,
