What is a good strategy to organize and complete a lot of school work while maintaining a healthy lifestyle (exercising). What sort of schedule should i set for myself, for example should i exercise in the morning or after school? When should i do my homework after dinner or directly after school? Last year i got good grades but i felt i could have done better if my time was managed better... I have six classes and three of them are AP, I am also applying to college so i have a lot on my shoulders.. Please help me, Thank you

  1. I guess you don't have PE. It's great for your brain to begin the day with some exercise, but doing that & getting to school so early can be a problem. How about playing a sport at school?

As for homework, definitely take a break of some sort after school and have a snack with some good protein in it, like milk or peanut butter to keep your brain from fizzling out. With AP courses, I would begin my homework then, and let dinner be a break, and get back to the homework after that. It's no good to stay up late on a regular basis and then have to get up early. Your hours of sleep are as important as regular exercise.

  2. Katherine W did a good job of answering your question but I would also add that when applying to college I would make a schedule of when each college you want to apply to has it's deadline and how many different applications you need to do. When writing your application essay I would plan out deadlines for first drafts, second drafts and so on and make plans to see a teacher who can go over the essay with you. Maybe even hire a good grown-up English tutor who will help you with your essay. Don't save the essays to the last minute, they are super important!

Also if you are applying for scholarships, research all of them before school starts and plan for the ones you want to apply for.

  3. i'm turning 14 soon, i hope i help? (:

i have school monday-friday, plus Extra-Curricular activities after school on monday and wed, and tuition wed and saturday, and church stuffs friday night and sunday morning.

let me tell you how i organize my life!

i sleep at around 11, because i have to wake up at 6.15. teens need at least 7 hours of sleep!! then i splash my face with cold water and go down for breakfast. BREAKFAST IS A MUST!!!!!!!!!! it is like THE most impt meal of the day!! but first i drink a cup of WARM water. veryvery impt. then i go back up and brush my teeth and then do simple warm ups. you know, the basic stuff. but NOT TOO VIGOROUS! just to warm up my body. then i change (i have uniforms ugh) then do my hair (which is supposed to be tied up) then my dad drives me to school.

then after school and whatever after-school activities, i go home (mum fetches) then i take a shower. a nice refreshing shower and wash my hair too. then i blow dry my hair straight, then start on my work. home work and studying. till dinner time. then i have dinner, sometimes while watching tv or reading a book.

then after dinner (around 8), i go up and get ready for the next day of school. then i go on the internet if i'm done with work, but if i still have more homework i do till i finish it. then i take a WARM shower this time, slack around, then do simple warm-down exercises then get to bed.

and that repeats like over and over again till friday! friday is my relaxing day! i get to go back form school at 1.15pm. then i do work for like one hour only, take a shower, go on the internet, then change into casual-cute clothes for cell group(some church thing) then have dinner then my friend comes and picks me up to go to cell group together. friday is my relaxed day.

then on saturday i wake up at 9, have breakfast, do work, have lunch, then go for tuition and come back, then relax, then have tuition again.

ends around 6pm. then i shower, get dressed, and go out with my family for our routine Saturday Night Out stuff.

then Sunday is church from 1030-1230. then i do work, study, then at 5, our family goes out for sports. either the gym/badminton/swimming/bowling. some sports thing. we do it till like 7, then have dinner out. then come back, and i do my night routine, and sleep.

Sunday is kind of recreational day, Saturday is kinda work-stress day!

i do sports and get fit on Sundays!

you can follow that routine too!

but the BEST thing you can do is make LISTS!!!!

sometimes i wonder how i'll ever survive without lists!

every morning when i wake up i'll make a to-do list. and make more in school. i have lists for EVERYTHING. seriously. you don't want to know!

organize stuff you have! arrange your wardrobe according to colour!

    your CDs alphabetically!

    get neat!

  4. Try reading "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens."  You can also go to www.franklincovey.com and get an organizer book specifically for teenagers.  You can exercise when it's convenient, but notice if exercising after school makes it harder to sleep at night, or if you feel energized by exercising first thing (it wakes me up).  Same thing with homework: experiment to see what works for you.  For homework, you should write down assignments with due dates as soon as you get them, then break up long assignments into parts, so a little gets done each day.  Also, plan to spend half an hour on homework outside of class for every hour in class, more for AP classes.  It's good practice for college, when you have to really study.  Good luck!
