I'm going on a trip to Southeast Asia and am trying to figure out the best way to carry my helmet.

Should I use it as my carry-on?

Will it be okay to check it into my luggage? Will the rough and tumble of luggage be too harmful to my helmet?

  1. Your helmet will be fine with your check in luggage.  You may want to wrape it with your shirts or jacket you are planning to bring along.  The inside, I would stuff it with socks or small items.

Personally, I've took my old helmet and doesn't even both bring it back to the state!  I am sure the people there would appreciated the use.

  2. Do you know the polystyrene box where we pack perishable or frozen food on plane ? They come on all sizes. Pack your helmet in there. The box is shock proof. Just fasten it with paper tap and mark 'Fragile' and check in. You cannot hand carried it as it is regarded as possible weapon.

  3. I would carry it on as well. If it doesnt fit in the overhead bin, ask if you can just wear it while you are taking off and landing, and while the fasten seatbelts light is on. I actually know of two people that this happened to.

  4. its a helmet, whats going to happen to it in your luggage?

wrap your silk panties around it so it doesnt get scratched

  5. I'd carry it with me.  Baggage handlers are like apes, no offense to any baggage handlers, but they're not required to be gentle with anything, just fast.
