How should I paint my new room?

I am moving to a new house and the room that will be mine is currently gray. I have a silk cheetah print bed spread that I want to keep, but I don't know what color(s) to paint my walls so they don't clash with the bed spread. I have no theme to my room, but my favotite color is yellow...? More than one color for the walls would be fine, as would a pattern (stripes checks, etc). Lamps or wall accessorie suggestions would be cool, too. Thanks!

  1. i think you should do bright yellow and orange stripes.

and some bright colors for a blanket......

    also, get alot of posters.....

you could also do a wall with yellow base and orange polka dots.

  2. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a gold like "alchemy" (# 6395) might look terrific with the cheetah bedding.

  3. Oh, I love leopard/cheetah print!  I think there are so many fun things you can do with it!  I would go with sophisticated neutral walls and accessorize the room to really make a statement with your bed spread.  I would go for a medium cappuccino color on three of your walls (like in this picture: http://www.thejunglestore.com/Leopard-Pr... ) and then a rich chocolate brown on the forth as an accent wall.  Then you could hang framed photos on the dark wall and it would be like having your own personal art gallery.

I would definitely get some interesting lighting to go with your bedspread.  Check out some of these lamps and wall sconces:

You can find all sorts of cool candles, mirrors, etc that would go well with your bedspread, even curtains!  Here is a good place to look: http://animal-print-decorating.com/index...

Good Luck with your decorating.  I'm sure it will turn out awesome!

  4. You could do really large checkered walls of orange and black or orange and yellow (but outline it in black). You could also do two parallel walls one color, like black, and the adjacent parallel walls, orange. Fitting yellow in there is a little difficult do to your bedspread, but if you definitely are keeping the bedspread, you should try the checkered look.
