My Yorkie is 3 years old and she has been trained to mess outside by alerting me or whomever is home. We've recently moved in with roommates who also own dogs but they are paper trained. The house is empty all day so when we come home of course my baby has made a mess. Its really agitating my roommates because usually they are home before me and have to clean it up. How can I train her that it is okay to mess on the paper?

  1. Paper training her when she's already housebroken is taking a GIANT step backwards!

If I were you, I would try to get your roommates to pick up the paper and housebreak their dogs instead.

  2. ONE THING THAT WORKED FOR ME WAS WHEN YOU CLEAN THE MESS. CLEAN IT WITH THE PAD/PAPER THAT SHE HAS TO PEE IN. DOGS ALWAYS TRY TO SMELL THE LAST PLACE WERE HE OR SHE DID HER MESS IN. AND IF SHE FINDS THE PAPER SHE IS GOIGN TO THINK THAT IS THE PLACE AND PROBABLY PEE THERE AGAIN! ALSO WHEN YOU SEE HER PEEN IN ANOTHER PLACE. TELL HER NO! AND TAKE HER TO THE PAPER WHERE SHE HAS TO PEE!

    I HOPE IT HELPED! :D

  3. Start some degree of housebreaking as soon as you bring your new puppy home. Accustom your puppy to the crate or carrier a bit at a time by placing small pieces of dog biscuits inside as a lure.
