I usually pay cash at a restaurant fully (meal and tip). I usually receive my change, then leave the tip on the table. Is this the proper way to tip?

  1. I'm a waitress, and that sounds about normal. But if you need change, then ask the person who takes your money. I hate when people ask for change after I bring back the money. It's like "I don't know what you have in your pocket". Sometimes people think we're mind readers when we're not!!

  2. You can leave it on the table or in the book that they give you your change in. As a server myself, I like it when people that are paying with cash give you the meal & tip money and say "keep the change". It's easier than having to guess whether they need change or not.

  3. You are correct.  I think it is rude for the server to even ask, "Do you need change?"  In my opinion, the proper thing is to state, "I'll bring your change right away."  Then you have the opportunity to say, "No thanks".  I give less of a tip if the waiter even asks that question, but I usually pay with a credit card anyhow.

  4. You have to be careful and not give waiter a a big bill because he will say thank you and come back and he wont bring you any change I would leave on table and then you know you will get change. They are like that at Tuesdays and T.G.I.F

  5. yes, this is what i do and most people do too.

  6. Yes that's usually what I do, too.

  7. yes thats what i do

  8. Yes that is the right way of doing it, in a finer restaurant. But in not so refined places u can tell the waiter jut to keep the change (if there is a small difference in the sum)

  9. You are doing it correctly.
