How should I pick a date for my wedding?

I wanted to have my wedding on the date of our dating anniversary which is July 12th, but that falls on a weekday. I would best like it on a Saturday because we are having the wedding 4 hours from home so people need to travel. How should I go about picking a good date?

  1. If it falls on a date that means something to you, the groom, and/or your families, that's great, but more often, it's about choosing a time that you can take off from work for the honeymoon, and when guests can make it to the ceremony (and the venue and vendors aren't already booked.)

If possible, you would probably also want to plan around your menstrual cycle.

Start with the church or location that is your first choice for the ceremony and see what dates are available around the season/time when you want the wedding to occur, and see how that fits in with everything else.  Usually after narrowing down the choices and talking with your family & the groom's family, one date seems to make the most sense & fall into place.

  2. start with picking a season.

    winter?

    spring?

    summer?

    fall?

then a month within that season.

then, early or late in the month?

    then pick the day.

    wala!

(like a previous answerer said, plan around your period!!)

  3. How about December 12 which is exactly 6 months from your "first date" anniversary and falls on a Saturday.  This way you will have a special anniversary day every 6 months.

Added:  Sorry I read your date at June 12 not July 12....In that case then January 12th would be your 6 month span.  Sorry for the confusion

  4. I would pick a date on the weekend but check with your family and close friends first to be sure there isn't a conflict with the date so they wouldn't be able to be there. That happened to a friend of mine because the best man had a yearly business seminar that he had to attend or risk losing his job. Better safe than sorry.

    Congratulations!! : )

  5. Is there any other special event that you can think of? Maybe first kiss, or the date he proposed if its been at least a year.. maybe one of those falls on a weekend?

I picked a month I liked mostly for the season, spring. The day of the month was not really important to me since it was going to be a completely new, special day. Mine was a weekday but we held the reception a few days later, on the weekend, so people had no problem coming to that.

Congrats on the up coming wedding!

  6. try picking the weekend before or after whichever one is closer to july 12th

  7. I'm getting married July 11. you should too it's close enough

  8. Just go with the Saturday closest to your anniversary if nothing else sticks out for you. You are now making a NEW special day =)

  9. Go with Saturday.Best day for weddings.Easier for people to get that day off.

  10. you could use eachothers favorites numbers if reasonable or do a birthday date like i  was born on the 28th day so you could do july 28th [example] or have eachother think of special numbers that mean a lot to you.

  11. If people are traveling that far I would try and pick a holiday weekend.

Something like July 4th or memorial day?  We just picked a month we would like to have then chose our date from what the venue had available at the time.  There's really not a real formula to it.

  12. first have it be durning your favorite season, then do you have a lucky number??? Have it on that day. That day not durning the weekend?, just move that day up to the closest weekend. Thats what i did

  13. You could always have your wedding on the Saturday before or anfter your anniversary.

If not, I would suggest picking a time of year that you like best. For example, when I get married I'd like to have a fall wedding and since the leaves are at their prettiest colors around here in November, I'd like to have a November wedding.

It's really up to you when you decide on that perfect day. Good luck!

  14. What about the date of your first meeting? That day brought you together once, and now could do so before God and everyone! Another option could be the anniversary of the date of your first kiss.
