How should I prepare for an interview with New York Life Insurance for an agent position?

  1. You don't need to prepare, In reality you are not trying to get them to hire you they are really trying to recruit you.  They will hire just about anybody, the main requirement is a pulse. With career companies it's about volume, they hire as many new recruits as possible, 80-90% will wash out during the first year the rest will may survive to have a career.

    If you are sure you want to get into the business NYL does offer what is widely considered the best training in the business. I started my career with them and saw plenty of new recruits that really had no chance of making it but were hired anyway.

    This can be a great business but you need to be prepared financially to just scrape by in the first year.

    But with that said if you don't have the skills you will not close very many sales. I found these very helpful:

  2. Work on closing the sale as that is the most important.
