I have my 1st 5k tomorrow. How should I prepare tonight and tomorrow? What should I wear? Should I wear a tank top or a t shirt? Do you have any advice for me to get a low time? I'm a 16 year old girl btw. And we're gonna be running a lot of steep hills.

  1. Eat a lot of carbs about 1hr prior to the race  because if you are doing hills, you're going to need it.

Also wear spikes, it helps with traction. Also while going up hills, pump your arms and lean forward, it helps. While running, keep focus and don't let anything break your momentum and concentration. Be well stretched. Dont' worry about throwing up because I'm sure everyone at the meet has done it some time before.

Wear a tanktop if hot or t-shirt if cool. Try ur hardest and don't worry so much because it's only ur first race.

  2. Don't eat anything heavy, eat light foods and the most important thing keep hydrated!!!.

  3. eat lots of carby foods tonight like pasta, bread, potatoes. get a good nights sleep. tomorrow for breakfast have a peanut butter bagel/toast/sandwich, dry cereal, trail mix, or granola bars. dont eat to close to your race and dont drink any milk or dairy before you run! stretch really good before you run. just relax and do your best! i personally like to wear white t-shirts but thats pretty much your choice:) good luck!!

  4. eat alot of complex carbs the night before and early in the morning if the race is not too close to the time you eat.

  5. An extremely good idea would to definitely wear a tanktop and some shorts.

Another thing I HIGHLY recommend is pasta the last two days before the big race. It gives you PLENTY of energy and has nutrients and protein.

    Good luck!
