  1. The only thing you need..... "Lonely Planet: Germany" guidebook.

  2. learn some german!

make a list of all the things you will need to bring, like your hairbrush and toothbrush that you will have to pack last minute. Check it off right before you leave for the airport. I don't even know how many times I've had to go buy a new toothbrush because I left mine in the bathroom after I used it before we left. It's not a big deal, but its kind of a pain.

go to some german tourism sites and plan out what you want to do while you're there

make sure that if you dont know the language that you bring a translator!!

  3. Borrow travel books and DVDs from your library.  Rick Steves is all about traveling light and cheap.

  4. buy a handbook of german wordz 2 get u around town, believe me it will help alot!

  5. Take comfortable shoes, you walk almost anywhere in Europe. Definatley buy a hand guide of whatever city your going to . Maps, extra cash just in case. The people are nice and will help you if your lost but take a small dictionary or translater book. It helps when your walking around town trying to read street signs! (trust me I got lost!) Also take a variety of clothing you never know how the weather is going to be. Well thats all I could think of now, have fun!! : )

  6. Learn some vital German like where is the bathroom please?.  Learn a little about the roadways, etc.  See what kind of food you can eat.  Remember to be respectful.

  7. Read these 2 websites, they're the best and have good advice and articles on country and culture:

    http://www.howtogermany.com/

    http://www.german-way.com/

Also see this for esssential German phrases:

    Enjoy! =)

  8. Be prepared to eat a lot of pork product. Additionally be prepared to spend a lot of money, Euro is stronger than the dollar

  9. Yea, a handbook comes in handy.  You can also get cds to help you learn some things.  Books come in handy expessaily when you are at a resturant.

  10. If you're going in summer, its hot.  Be sure to try a bockwurst

at a catering truck in the cities.  Ask for brot and senf, bread and

mustard.  Be prepared to walk a lot and take buses and subways

and street cars.  The night life is fantastic, everywhere in Germany.  Courtesy helps a lot.
