How should I prepare to play Roxie Hart in Chicago? Wrong section..i know?

What should I do to get into character? Should I create a backstory?

*I asked this in a diff. section 1st but no one answered. So, please help! :)

  1. Absolutely create a back story  The better you know the character, the better you'll be able to play her.  Start by going through the script and writing down everything that Roxie says about herself and everything that other characters say about her.  The playwright will have done a lot of the work for you.  Then you go back and fill in the blanks with your imagination!

  2. I love the music from both the broadway and the movie, so my suggestion is to really listen to both recordings and what traits come out in each of the recordings.  It's something simple you can do to relax at night.
