  1. Lice are actually rarely transmitted via hats, combs or the floor, as they cannot survive for long away from their host - us. However, it is best not to share combs just in case, but it is mostly head to head contact. Tied up hair and not coming in contact with other people's head is the only way to prevent head lice.

Otherwise, use copious amounts of conditioner into dry or damp hair. It'll suffocate the adult lice. Do it 2-3 times a week for 2-3 weeks to also kill the newly hatched eggs and it's an alternative to expensive and harsh products on your scalp.

Good luck. Head lice is the second most common problem in school after the common cold!

And no, they do not jump from one hair strand to another, they must grasp. Fleas however, can jump from host to host, though not very far anyway.

  2. Keep you hair up preferably in a braid so it does not fly free. Do not wear other peoples hat or coats etc. Do not share brushes or combs. Other then that, not much else you can do. If there are a few people in school with it have your mom check you in a well lit room after school each day.

  3. Love it, had lice constantly because some girls mom refused to cut her hair and she constantly infected the class.  Lice can jump some amazing amount like 10 feet so it's pretty impossible to stop them in a classroom if someone is infected.  They don't send you home for school for nothing!  The only way to stop them for sure is to use prevention treatements- little less harsh then the lice kits.

Google them- there are a ton of them out there- I posted one for you.

It's normally just a shampoo or spray in.

    Better safe then sorry.
