I am 13 years old and I want to help my friend renovate her basement. We want this one room to be a pimpin awesome hang out space! We would like to paint it also! we're thinking to put a tv, chairs/beanbags, mini fridge, lamp, rug, folding table for cards w/ chairs.... what are good ways to raise good money to make this happen SOON? and where are good places to get good but cheap stuff!

  1. Baby sitting, household chores, shelf stacking at the supermarket(if its legal for your age group to do in your area) gardening/lawn mowing etc. Buy your stuff from a second hand dealer, but have a responsible adult check the TV to make sure it's safe &works OK.

  2. Those are some pretty huge plans for a 13 year old, and I'm not that sure you can earn the money to buy all the stuff that you want- at least, not without your parents help.

By all means, consult them. And check the classified section of your local newspaper to see what kind of jobs you can find where it MIGHT be legal for you to work.

    Good luck, Honey.

  3. How about trying to locate as many of the items needed first for free? Maybe join Free Cycle http://www.freecycle.org and post "wanted" ad's for what your looking for. Some Free Cycle communities require that you first post an "offer" first before you can post for "wanted" item(s) and some only allow a certain amount of "wanted" ad's in a certain time frame so make sure you read what Free Cycle is all about & their rules first. Free Cycle is meant to be a site to recycle useable stuff so it don't end up in the landfills. Then in the mean time, while collecting as much as y'all can for free on Free Cycle, y'all can be making money so when your ready to do the project, you'd have less to purchase. Good luck!
