My mom said if I get the money I can buy a hamster. My dad doesn't want any more pets! Me and my BFF are having a yard sale than going to some kind of store if my parents are not back by then. We both luv animals so we might go 2 the pet shop. Should I suprize my dad because my dad always says my mom is boss, or ask him so he isn't shocked?

  1. Just ask him and say "After our yard sale, we are going to the pet store to look at hamsters.  And if we have enough money for everything, can we buy a hamster?  Please?"

And in some pet stores, you can't buy a pet without an adult.  But it really depends how old you are in some pet stores.

If your dad says no, then say "The hamster will be my responsibility, and not yours.  You do not have to do anything for the hamster.   I will clean the cage, I will give it plenty of food and water, I will make sure it gets lots of exercise, I will do a good job of taking care of it, and I will do a good job of loving it."

I hope you get a cute, little hamster!!

  2. no offense, but I think hamsters are evil. Sorry if it has nothing to do with it, but anyways, you should definetly tell your dad first, and tell him that it is all your problem, and if it dies early, it is because you are not responsible enough, blah blah, and it might take a little while, but he will eventualy say yes. I remember when we (My mom and I) got my first guinea pig while my dad was at work. I have been begging for some kind of rodent, it was either ferret, guinea pig, or little brother. So we got the guinea pig and when my dad got home, he HATED it. Since I was about 7, he had to do the cage cleaning. But when she got sick, he took her to the vet and cuddled with her and when she died he stopped calling her 'Guinea Rat' and bought me Angel Food to make me stop crying. This was recent. Then we came home with another while he was at work, and he fell in LOVE with it! They were cuddling and everthing. So, good luck!

  3. well, i would tell him u are going because once u have got the hamster u cant go back. However getting a hamster will be ur responsibility so ur dad wont really  have to do anything.

    YOU clean it out

    YOU feed and water it

    YOU love it

he doesnt really need to do anything.

good luck im sure u will look after it, hamsters are great pets and a gr8 way to show ur parents how independent u are.

good luck with whatever u decide to do.

BUT, the pet will have to be urs not ur frinds becasue u cant keep swaping homes for it, one day ur house one day his/hers, because the hamster needs to get used to its surrounding. i would say that if it is ur first time getting a hamster then i would get a boy, girls are more hyperactive.

  4. You should ask your dad. It's always good to keep parents on your good side!

Plus the cages and stuff are really expensive, you might need his help. We just got a gerbil. The cage + shavings + wheel + ball + water bottle + dish + food + gerbil was like $90.

  5. NEVER NEVER buy from a pet store.. you support cruelty when you do.. because the pets are bred in mass warehouses or puppy mills.. when you buy pets from them you DO NOT "Save" that pet.. you condem others....

instead go to your local SPCA or animal shelter..

look at the pets they have.. donate money to help them or adopt .. usually the pets come with the cages they are in or the cages are cheaper...

  6. Ask him.

For a start, you may not be able to buy an animal without a parent.

Secondly, you may not have enough money for a hamster AND a cage and everything else and need his help.

Thirdly, you should respect your parents and tell them of your intentions- it's their house and their rules and you need to respect that.

I hope he says yes, but going behind a parents' back only creates problems.
