How should I start playing World of Warcraft?

Question

Since the new expansion is coming out and I haven't ever played WoW, I've decided to start playing after hearing so many good things about the game.

I'm going to buy the original copy as it's needed to install the expansions, but will I be the only beginner in the game? It's 4 years old right?

OR, with the expansion, does everyone need to start at level 1?

If that's so, I won't feel so bad lol

-Also, I want to be a Mage, any tips on leveling?

I played WoW for a little while i used a bunch of free trial accounts and anyone hu starts a new character will be a lvl one so dont worry u can make alot of friends with the other new players. u may see some high lvld characters sometimes too. i had been a mage on one characther and i dont have much on lvling but i no a good combo with ur begginer attacks once you get frostbolt. use frostbolt on ur enemy once then hit them with a couple of fire attacks the frostbolt slows your enemy so while it is walking over u can kill it before it can even get to u! if u r deciding on a race also i would pick human or gnome for mage on the good side but if ur on dark i would do orc or troll and blood elf if ur getting burning crusade. i also reccomend druids instead of mage they have attacking and healing powers and the ability to transform. have fun playing!
