  1. Keep bananas out of the refrigerator. Bananas release lots of gas that will actually make it ripen faster, so leaving it in the bag or in the fridge will ripen it faster. Apples and oranges are best in the refigerator though. As for veggies, it depends on how they are to be cooked. They won't last long in the fridge, so what I do is just prep them up (like cut broccoli up or carrots or whatever) and place them in freezer bags and put them in my freezer until I'm ready to use them. You can also do that with fruit if you need to. The fruit and veggies won't lose any nutrition doing this. Also, making a nice fruit bowl for the table would be a good idea. Hope this helped! 2. If fruit is stored in the fridge, it will last 2/3 days longer than if you leave it out and potatoes will last about one week longer.  So it's a convenience thing really.

Bananas in the fridge stop them going brown.

  3. Apples do well in the fridge as do many other fruits and veggies, however there are a few that like other situations. Herbs do best when kept like other plants, in water and sun. Tomatoes and potatoes shouldn't be refrigerated, and potatoes need to be in the dark. Onions, garlic and shallots don't need refrigerated either.
