Question:

How should I take care of myself considering the scary medical history of my family?

Well... My dad died of a brain tumor at 54 (according to the doctor the worst he's seen in 40 years of medical practice) and we have diabetes on both sides of the family. I had a brain scan when I was 13 to see what was causing my daily headaches. They noticed I have thinner than normal blood vessels in my brain. The headaches are actually caused by a problem with the lower part of my cerebellum which was pressed too heavily when I was being delivered by C Section. We went to a naturopath and now I have only had about 3 headaches this year, which is great for me. Whenever I get my blood pressure tested, it seems a little low.

My brother has a teeny tiny benign blood clot at the base of his brain, behind his eye (it causes one pupil to be slightly larger than the other). It was apparently causing some of his temper problems, which are now better that he's grown up and moved out, is doing his own thing. It's about the size of a . full stop.

I would NEVER smoke. I am totally against it. I drink only a little bit, at parties maybe twice a year... I don't eat fast food or drink sugary drinks.

I like my chocolates, muffins and cookies, and I havent really exercised latley. I eat fruit when it's not of crappy quality, and I drink loads of water each day. I go to bed late.

I stress out easy. I dont have a constructive relationship with my friends (they are ALL idiots)...

So based on this, am I very likely to die of a stroke or an annuerism?

What can I do so I can keep living into my 90's?

  1. why till 90's? 50s good enough for me

  2. Regular checkups, daily exercise, and eating healthy are good ways to live a long, healthy life. The fact that you don't smoke and drink maybe twice a year is a big plus in your favor.  Having diabetes on both sides of the family doesn't necessarily mean you will too but it does mean that you have a better chance of developing diabetes.  So have your sugar levels tested regularly and try not to eat too many refined sugars ( cookies, candy, etc.)  Go for natural sugars found in fruits. Plus fruits are heart healthy.  So are vegetables.  If you don't like to exercise, try going for a daily walk. Start with 30 minutes and increase it to 1 hour a day. You don't mention your weight but low blood pressure can be because of low weight.  Nothing to worry about. I've always had low blood pressure but many doctors have assured me that it's because I am slim.

Stress can be a trigger for different health problems.  So try to be more positive in your relationships and don't be quick to critisize your friends.  Going to bed late doesn't matter as long as you get your 7 to 8 hours of sleep.  And keep on drinking loads of water.  Not only are you hydrating your skin, you are preventing stretch marks and saggy skin.

And last but certainly not least, just be happy.  Happiness goes a long way when it comes to health.  Good luck and God Bless
