Question:

How should I tell him?

you guys gotta help me and I'm sorry for asking so many questions.

Anyway I want to be obvious but I don't want to scare him away or ruin the relationship. I want to take the risk but I don't want to do too much.

Anyway I am in love with him and he's 28 and I'm 23. Right now we're both not looking for a relationship. But I want him to know that I am an option if he ever decides to want a girlfriend.

I have a couple of options:

Say you're very special to me

or

say You're very special to me and yes I do mean more than friends

or say You're very special to me and eventually I'd want to be more than friends with you. If you don't want to that's fine.

He's outgoing and we've been friends for 4 years. What would each message imply?

  1. The first makes it clear that you value him.

The second says "I care about you and I'm wanting more than friendship".

The third is too passive agressive - go for what you want!  Don't say "but that's okay if you don't want to", say "what do you think?".

It's nerve-wracking, I know... but wouldn't you feel awful if you never said anything and found out later he was too shy to say it to YOU?

The worst that can happen is he says "I don't like you that way" - you go l**k your wounds, recover your pride, and get back to your friendship.

This comes from personal experience... and we're still good friends to this day.  :)

  2. How do you know he doesn't feel the same way about you? Just tell him. If he doesn't feel the same he will still want to be your friend. It's so much easier if a girl tells me straight out instead of trying to read her mind.
