I have most recently been temping and am not sure how to put that on my resume. Should I list the temp company as the employer (which is technically true) or should I put the company that I temped at? Or both?

Thanks for any help!

  1. Use the employer name. Not the agency. Employers fully understand the Temp Industry: they use it too when they don't want to pay benefits. You can list the temp agency on your cover letter but I suggest you focus on your abilities and accomplishments as this is what makes you competitive. It's ok to list 'assignment ended' as the reason for leaving. This will open up the Temp assignments topic. Make sure you mention that you are seekiing more permanent employment and that you are ready to commit to the right one. Good luck!

  2. Put temp, and maybe ad the company you worked for under contacts, or in job description.

  3. Name the temp agency, they cut your paycheck.

Then list the different things you've done, the skills you've used, other appropriate things related to jobs performed, you don't need to list each company you were sent to. If your prospective employer wants to know, s/he'll ask.

    Best wishes.

  4. List your temp agency and if you've been with the same company for an extended period of time (6 mos or longer) list that company too, under the temp agency. If you'd like my services, please visit my website.

  5. I put the company I worked for (not the temping agency). Much better.

On the first line of the list of the work I did with the company, I start like this:

"Worked as a contractor in implementing the compliance system.......blah blah blah"
