Question:

How should I wrap this gift?

I'm putting together a little package for a friend's wedding gift--wine glasses, 2 bottles wine, 1 bottle sparkling wine, oven mitts & kitchen towels, wine stopper. What is an original, useful and attractive (and cheap cheap cheap--like under $5) container I can put all this stuff in? I was thinking a nice wire basket, but I can't find any for cheap. Any really original ideas? Like something I could get at Home Depot or whatever? thanks!

  1. A small wooden crate. They are useful for storing items in the garage or basement, so they could reuse it.

  2. You can make anything cute and pretty with a little tulle and ribbon.  I would use a laundry basket and wrap it up with lots of tulle and a big pretty bow.  Or, walmart sells wicker laundry baskets for under $4, that I always use for these kinds of gifts.

  3. Try a nice straw basket.  It shouldn't be too expensive.  Or you could put it in a nice gift bag.  Is this all you are giving for a wedding gift? You should give money or a gift card too?

  4. What about going to good will and picking up a basket and putting it in the basket arranged nicely.

Wrap it in the kitchen towels and put a ribbon around it .

I like the basket the best you can make it look amazing.

  5. At a craft store or home store, you should be able to find a tin bucket very cheaply, put the things in, then use basket wrap around the whole thing, with ribbon tying it closed.

  6. Why dont you try putting it all in a gift box (without the lid)

Wrap it in clear plastic & tie a bow to the top?

  7. That's a great gift.  Way more personal than some fancy thing-a-ma-bob that will sit in the back of a cupboard.  Who cares what you spend - it's REALLY the thought and care that's gone into the selection of the gift that matters.

Like others, I was thinking a laundry basket.  It is inexpensive and useful.  Maybe a wash-up pail?

Another option is a plastic wastepaper basket.  Most homes can use a few of these around.

What about a jumbo mixing bowl or popcorn bowl?

A larger roasting pan would be good but it might be a bit more than you want to spend.

Head for the kitchen and storage section of a variety store like Wal Mart and see what you can find.
