  1. Does he have a grandpa, uncle, or other male influence in his life? If so, maybe you could do something special for them.

  2. Treat it just like any other day..I know it's a hard one but go to a movie and or do whatever makes him happy!!

  3. Ignore fathers day.

  4. Depends. Is father dead or just absent?

After my husband died, we talked about him on Father's Day.

  5. You could find out if a local home for the elderly could use a couple volunteers during the dinner.

Bet there are tons of "men" there that would love to talk and bond with a young man who's helping.

  6. We like to make a pinata in the image of dad ..and beat it with a stick that says "child support enforcement" on it

  7. Do not ignore the day.  Your child knows it is Father's Day, and pretending it doesn't exist is going to hurt.

If the child has a special male adult friend, such as a cousin or uncle, see if you can have your child spend some time with him.

Or, as another poster suggested, help out with the elderly.   There are lots of gentlemen out there whose families have forgotten them.

  8. treat it like just any day, because if you try and treat it as some special day, he's just going to think about his dad more. If he's feeling insecure, make sure he knows you love him, and etc. etc. but i wouldn't go overboard on stressing it.

  9. Spend it how you would any day. Show him alot of attention and love and let him know that even though his dad is not present in his life, you are there and will be there for him. Also, let him know there are other 7 year old boys who fathers are not there, but there moms are and it doesnt change anything. Tell them God is their father.

  10. Don't ignore Father's Day and act like it's just another Sunday. I don't have a mother so I have grown up in your child's shoes. Usually we didn't do much on Mother's Day but one year on Mother's Day, my Dad took me to the zoo as a surprise. That was such a simple but meaning full thing I still remember to this day.

  11. Wow! I've found some interesting scents/lotions/potions from Bath Junkie. There you can customize a scent ranging from a dirt scent to where it seems like he just being skiing to an imitation cologne.
