My friends daughter (my goddaughter) spends about 5 days out of the month with me, in my home. Right now she leaves nothing here, everything comes and goes with her. But my husband will be going on cruise (navy) in September for about 8mos. Which means, butterball (baby) will be here likely every weekend. I know I'll have the time ... the only reason she doesn't come every weekend now is because i never know which weekend my hubby will be home (and when he is home well you get the idea). ANYWAY ... since she'll be here maybe from Thurs -Sun. What should i get to stay here ?

I'm looking at a $40 stroller (her mother never remembers to bring hers) ... I know there are cheaper ones i just like the $40 one.

Also she can sleep with me my bed is huge and she doesn't roll.

Also she'll already have a drawer in my dresser as none of my hubby's clothes will be here ....

What else would be good to have so it doesn't have to be lugged back and forth ?

  1. car seat

    stroller

    nappies/ diapers

    wipes

    clothes

    toys

    colouring stuff

    blanket

    teddy

    dummy/pacifier

    shoes if she wears them

small cot, i would not have a child in bed with me. it causes problems when they are older...

    bottle or sippy cup

small cutlery set and plastic dish and plate

small chair and table or high chair

small trampoline if you have garden space

small paddle pool if you have space and time to sit with her

  2. extra clothes, diapers, wipes, extra blankets, extra car seat and I would try to find a cheap  toddler bed (i don't like sleeping with my daughter, makes me nervous and she moves to much!)

  3. Okay, so definitely the stroller. The umbrella kind are a joke. You need baggage room!

Car seat? I'm assuming you have that.

If she's not walking, she must be close, right?

So, once they can walk, really you only need stroller, diaper bag kinda stuff, clothes, toys, and that's it. I'm thinking just get some toys so all that has to be packed is one big diaper bag. My daughter's absolute favorite toy when she turned 1 was this "table" that has all kinds of buttons and things that you pull and push and turn and things light up and blink and music plays, etc. She still loves that thing and she's 2 1/2.

Other stuff can be improvised. Toddlers love to play pretend. Pots and pans and plastic spatulas and spoons let her "cook" while you cook. An old cell phone or cordless phone lets her "chat" like you do. An old purse or small tote bag can be filled with all kinds of junk. She is about to get into a stage where she will want stuff. Just stuff. The more stuff of any kind she has in her immediate possession (ie. is in control of) the happier she will be.

  4. okay, here are some stuff kids usually need(or else they go balistic and make your life miserable)

food-carrots, mac and cheese, cookies, goldfish

    pacifiers

    diapers

fake food(and pots and pans to prepare it in, so when your cooking they think  they're like you)

    coloring stuff(books, crayons, etc.)

stuffed animals(some at your house, so she can pretend she's "visiting" them)

    play-doh

    dolls

barney or little einstein dvd's(just any show that has a lot of bright colors in it)
