I was told once that a bow is supposed to have the name of a female, but i have also heard of bows with male names some even have just titles. I know i can name it what ever i want but i would just like to know if there was ever a name requirement such as with naming swords.

  1. Name the bow: Grace ;D

  2. It's simple- when you make a good killing shot with it, call it sweetheart, when you miss and want to blame the bow call it no good b###h!

  3. Name the bow.........

    Name it, Bowie

  4. name it ivi (ivee) ivy eyve

  5. You have answered your own question: You can name it anything you want (just be ready for a lot of flack if you give it a name which others find to be offensive - or silly).

In the "olden days", when someone gave thier sword a name it was often something which described how they felt about the sword or what it was used for (and I don't know of many swords that were used to cut birthday cakes! ok, there was the one time in St. Paul, MN at a birthday party I attended, in a public park...); names such as "Storm-Bringer" or "Death Dealer" are **very** obvious descriptive names. The only "requirement" for giving any sword a name would be a superstitious belief that a sword had a "soul", and without a name it would eventually turn on its owner (by breaking in the middle of battle, or skipping off the other fella's armor into its owner's leg, etc)...

I've read and heard about bows with names such as "Sweet Thing" and "Bow-vine"; the first one is because the bow is so "sweet" to shoot, and the second was because the bow's handle was covered with black-and-white "cowhide" (bovine = cow..."Bow-vine" - just so you know, the bow was a one-piece ["self"] Ash longbow, therefor the "vine" in the name).

There are so many ways to find a name for a bow, the possibilities are nearly infinite.... Mine is named "P.O.S.", just because. :-P

  6. How about:  "Bo," good luck.

    H

  7. Well if you really want to go with the awesome tradition of christening inanimate objects with women's names I would consider the fantastic name of: Artemis.  She was the Greek goddess of hunting and nature.  She always had a bow and arrows with her.  If I had a bow, I would so name it Artemis.

  8. y would u name a bow? i no lots of people that hunt with bow's as well as i do but not one person i no of and i no of hundreds that hunt with a bow have named it

  9. IO call mine Mattews    Oh wait that is the brand of it
