How should i break in new figure skates?

i got new figure skates and im going to begin lessons how can i break in my new skates of the ice

  1. If it were me, I would put them on and lace them like you would to go skating. Put your hard guards on your skates and walk around inside your home for a bit. Only lace your skates to the second to last eye hook so you can practice bending in your skates too. Both my daughter and myself wore our skates in the house for short periods of time while breaking them in. The best way to truly break them in tho, is to skate in them. :-) My daughter has had her new skates for a week now and seems to be co mfortable in them. That said, the time it takes to break in skates also depends on how frequently you use them, how you use them AND the stiffness of the boot. My daughter is in a Riedell Gold Medallion boot, so it's not the sitffest boot in the world and might take less time to break in then a boot that is like concrete. :-)  


  2. Put your hard gaurds on and walk around in them. Try bending your knees and hopping a bit. If you're on ice, do crossovers and edges.

  3. At home, put on your skates and hard skate guards and just jump up and down about 100 times every morning for the next week (at least).
