How should i build this??

ok i am building a mini skatepark in my back yard and one part is a platform about 4 feet high and i need to know how to make the supports underneath it. should they be like this ( l=l=l=l=l) or have the "=" be "/" like this (lxlxlxlxlxlxl) or is there a better method? which one provides more support?

lxlxlxlxlxlxlx    cross bracing is always best,,,gives support at top and bottom,    , l=l=l=l=l=l=l,,,in the middle,,,,,  does nt provide   this,,,,

I would use = at the half way point in between the supports and a / or two either side at the impacts points.
