I tried out for the team last year as a freshman and didn't make it.

I REALLY love this sport and want to play my sophomore year. What can I do this summer to prepare myself for tryouts??

I'm willing to work extremely hard..I just want to show the coaches that I've been trying to better myself from before.

  1. You could try to go to Volleyball camp or you can try to ask some of last years players what the coach is looking for in a player

  2. Work out to get in shape, and try to see if there are any volleyball camps near by so that you'll have plenty of practice.  Most important--stay positive, and don't give up!

  3. play as much beach volleyball as you can.

nationals for club is in yearly July, so try to join a team near by.

camps are an 'ok' way to improve your game, just make sure that they are worth it.

-make sure that it is not a huge camp, you want a good camper to coach ratio.

    thats about it.

  4. Well, our varsity coach gave us all (as 8th grades) a four day work out plan and I plan on doing it the whole entire summer.

For anyone who really wants to be commited, she recomended doing it.

Just ask for one, or look up them on the internet.

Also, I would enrole yourself in multiple camps.

  5. okay well i have been playing volleyball my life...and i never rlly get ready for tryouts since its my life...but my advice is

    -learn to serve overhand

    -learn to spike/set/pass

-wear sports clothes to tryouts so they knoe u are serious

    there u go...goodluck

  6. Practice as much as you can and stay in shape. I'm not trying to make it out like the tryouts are biased, but making friends with the coach and players on the team last year never hurts!

  7. keep in shape and work on passing and spiking...show the coaches that you are willing to improve and have a great attitude.

  8. -PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT-

*serve at home for @ least 10 mins a day

    *pass with a friend daily

    *set to a wall a 50x a day

*go to any open gym you can go to

*get to know the coach if possible

*join a rec or club team for extra practice

    -SHINE AT TRY-OUTS-

    *wear a bright shirt

    *thank the coach

*be loud call the ball and cheer the loudest

    *HUSTLE, HUSTLE, HUSTLE

    *give it your all

    *have fun

I made it on the A team for a v-ball club this is what I did I hope it helps!!

    Good Luck,

    Live

  9. i play for the number one ranked varsity mens team in new jersey (i made it as a sophmore but i dont play ha)

-play beach (improves you on all areas of the game passing setting hitting blocking and speed)

-play club (much faster and harder then high school i play club and when i play high school to me personally the game slows down so its much easier to play)

-go to as many camps as you can

-when tryouts come leave it all on the floor (ex: make the extra effort for the ball, call for it even though everyone knows its yours, finish first when running coaches notice those things)
