  1. I highly recommend a career as a commercial helicopter pilot. There is a very real shortage for helicopter pilots and the Helicopter industry is experiency a termendous growth. While airlines are expreiencing constant highs and lows, the helicopter industry is making money hand over fist.

Take a look at sites like

  2. I'd get over to http://www.oxfordaviation.net/ and order yourself a brochure.

With finances in place, and a good education behind you, you can't go wrong.

Also, they're is an age limit for Pilot Training, I think it's 24, so let's hope you young enough!

If this does work for you, I'd contact Guinness World Records. That could be the career change of the century!

  3. It takes a lot of time, and costs a lot of money.  Start by getting your private pilot's license (about $7000).  You'll then need an instrument rating (another $7000) and a commercial rating (several thousand more).  Then get an instructor's rating (yet more bucks), and teach for a while to build up time.  It goes on from here; go to your nearest airport and talk to a fixed-base operator there for details.  Is it worth the hassle?  Yes.

  4. try the cadets. I'm wanna be a pilot too, but I dont have a job (im still at school). I get flying lessons at my local air club  thingy

  5. I agree with rotorwingflight. If you want to fly a corporate job you can get both helicopter and airplane. Its easier to transition from helicopter to airplane though. First find a school, get at least a 2nd class medical, and take a ride to see if its something you like if you haven't yet. Research the school (google, yahoo, former students, etc) to see if it is a good school. Also another consideration is if they are connected to any employers once you have the hours to apply for a commercial job.

  6. do you have the money to train to become a pilot (approx 60k in UK) half price in USA, Spain..

you can also train in the army for free!

  7. you need to find an air field and start taking lessons.  They just add on the certifications from there.  Once you are able to get a flying job, teach to increase you hours.  Usually companies will get you type rated on the planes you will fly.  Be aware though there is basicly no money in flying anymore.  You are basicly a glorified bus driver.  Get rich doing something else and just fly for fun!

  8. This question has been asked and answered well over 250 times, search the database for all the tips.  Have the money and decent health , with some work you will get their.

  9. Very simply put, go to your local airport and talk to a flight instructor there.  You can also check out AOPA's website, as they have some tips.

    It's  http://www.aopa.org

Oh, and I'd see about passing my Medical first.  No reason to make any major moves or do training, if you can't pass the medical.  Mine ran about $80.

Good Luck, and enjoy.  It's great!

  10. Go to a local flight school at your airport and get your commercial certificate.

    Then get your instructor ratings.

Then instruct for a while and build hours.

Then apply to commuter and/or regional airline.

It would be a good idea to go to college and get a Bachelor's degree in something if you don't already have one as an electrician.
