  1. Let me begin by saying some vegetation is good and is beneficial, especially some trees which provide shade for fish.

    The most important part of clearing is Do Not cut trees down at waters edge especially around dam end.  Reason once the roots begin to rot and deteriorate it can cause holes in the shore line or dam leading to loss of water.

    Another way to clean up is to let winter do it.  If you live in an area where the temperatures go down to freezing and below then drain water level down to expose the roots and allow them to freeze out.  Then in about February begin to refill.

    The very best idea is to contact the nearest University Extension for information on what to clear out and how to do it in your area.
