im not a rookie to programming and business..

recently i just had a venture with the tvlinks sites which are really popular and quite easy money to make if you don't mind the copyright law.

now i have some money

but i figure that i will never be a famous/respectable guy if i do this kind of (illegal) websites.. and i want to be the next "mark"facebook or "tom" myspace.. but not the social sites..(how people still signup for myyearbook.com, i will never know) tired of all these social sites.

rather i'd like to know if i should either start out with a small website and not so great domain name and do programming myself and work my way up like normal.

or spend a lot on an amazing domain name, make a good business plan and find programmers and venture capitalists to support. and try to get a home run at once or lose it all.

  1. You need to first pick your keywords / category you will focus on. You can not make a site without knowing your keywords.

    Eg,

Computer Repairs, Computer Service, Computer Repair Service

Then base your site around that focus... You can get keyword popularity tools online, i put one in the sources section. If you go with a set of keywords that are popular, the better in the longrun you can perform.. More competition which creates more affiliates and partners.

The topics / keywords you aim for are up to you.

Best of luck with your online business / site!

  2. Regardless of which route you go, the first step is to make that good business plan. That should answer the rest of your questions.

As far as domain name goes, you shouldn't have to spend a lot to get a good one. Consider a case like facebook. The "facebook.com" domain isn't that great in itself; it's the millions of users that have signed up that make it valuable.

Since you have programming experience already, perhaps you can do enough on your own to at least get a proof of concept up and running. If all goes well, that might attract funding as well as talent that is willing to work for equity (rather than cash).

  3. I started my business on line and I found the best way to go was to get a web pagee designer from the start. I tried like you many ways but my advise is get aweb namee first this is free on theInternett then get a good web designer
