my passport expires in march 2009. what should i do for its renewal?

Since you are already holding an Indian Passport, you need Reissue of your Passport, for which you may submit your application now. You may download the application from the web and submit the same with documents, fees etc.

If it has been done with the help of an agent then better to go through him and he will get it done or go the pass port office and then they will tell u the whole procedure

Well if you live in the US then you just have to go to the post office. At the post office there will be a form. You just fill out the form and provide the necessaries.

Depends what countries passport you hold.

It is easy when you live in the same country as you hold the passport from.

In any case you can get in touch with internal affairs ministry of the countary that you hold te passport form.
