I've recently decided to further my education and need to take the GRE. I have until February to take the exam--which I imagine is plenty of time to study. What methods worked best for you?

  1. You should study with coffee.  Helps a lot.

  2. For standardized tests i always look for ht newest copy of the princton review they give a schedule on what u need to study and tips on looking at different places to apply.

  3. I would suggest taking a free class that many places such as libraries offer.  That way you will learn what you really need to know (as the teacher should know almost exactly what is on the test) and not have to learn the stuff that isn't on the test!

  4. you have enough time, here are few steps that will get you going

    1) Buy both Barrons and Kaplan GRE books

    2) Take one full test ( Verbal and Math ) before you start preparing for GRE.

    3) Identify your weak areas.

    4) Take another full leght test and identigy your weak areas. 2 tests will expose your strengths and weakness.

    5) Read the strategies from both Barrons and Kaplan and work on thw weak area. You will see your scores increase during first 2-3 weeks, then it will take a dip.

    6) In 2 months time, you will see steady increase in scores again.

7 ) Practice a lot of questions, improve your vocabulary, study word list from Barron's book

    8) you will be fine for exam in February.

    Good Luck,

  5. For verbal section :

better go for Mnemonic approach for learning words ...Mnemonics involves linking words and meanings with some information that is already available in our long term memory. This techniques works in amazing ways, particularly when you're trying to cram a lot of words into your memory.

http://www.mnemonicdictionary.com is a good point to start learning words using Mnemonics (also called memory aids)
