I'm reallly confused!!

At the pool store a guy told me they must be pointing up, In the same pool store another guy told me that it does not really matter the direction of the jets.

And yesterday I went to a different pool store and a guy told me they must be pointing down... I went there today again and a different person told me that up or down does not matter as long as they are pointing to the side.

Help please!!

  1. The jets are there to return the water from the filter. They help with circulation of the water throughout the pool and the skimmers are responsible for removing most of the large debris. But vacuuming is the primary way the pool is kept clean. So its not really critical which way they point. The guy who said pointing up is for adding oxygen to the water which help to air-ate the water. The guy who said pointing down believes it reduces the amount of vacuuming required. But you have to try both and see what works best for you. Sometimes it just comes down to pointing them down because they can be a jolt when swimming near them.
