How should we dispose of those heat sheets that are given out to runners after races?

I'm wondering if all those millions of sheets go in the landfills, or can they be reused or recycled somehow?

  1. J&H,

I agree with you that something more can be done with disposable items which seem to be used only once then discarded.

These "Heat-sheets" have an internal chemical which produce the warmth needed, therefore they are not easily categorized as paper or recycleable cardboard etc. They normally are placed in regular dispensors and trash units which like you stated usually end up in landfills by the millions.

One idea, would be to have specially marked bins just for them to be collected (like the cans-only signs)

Once gathered they could be furnaced with water treatments, similar to European nations, and condensed into 3ft. X 3ft. cubes which could serve as fuel propelents for crematory stations throughout the country* if not, then buried in a more orderly, filtrated fashion.

Just a collected conceptualized HEAT SHEET CUBE notion.

What do you think J & or H?
