Our family is going away for a week. We're going to be leaving our pet budgie behind. Is there anything we can do to make sure that he 'survives' well?

  1. How about setting it free? Do you really think it was supposed to be part of your furniture in the first place? Setting it free would make it self reliant in a week and would solve all your problems.

  2. If you have to leave him behind for a week then try to get a friend to come in and check on your bird as far as food and water go. Also, I don't know about budgies, but I know that with other birds you CAN NOT just over feed it and over water it and hope that it survives.

  3. You need to have someone check in on the bird while you are gone..a friend, family member, neighbor, or even a professional pet sitter.  Water can evaporate quickly..especially if it is warm.  Your bird can easily become dehydrated and die while you are gone if you do not have someone check in from time to time.  You should NOT leave the bird for an entire week without care.
