How should we spell our little girls name?

Question

We find out in just a few more days if we are having a boy or a girl. If we are having a boy his name will be Aries Ivan, but my husband and I both feel we are having a girl and though we both love the name we have chosen for her we can't agree on how to spell it.

Would you spell it:

Emani or Emmani

Her middle name will be Valentina

The original spelling is with one "M," but my husband wants to do it with two "M's" because we will call her Emma for short.

Well, if you are planning on nicknaming her Emma, I would spell it Emmani (however, I think Emani looks better).

Cant figure out how you'd pronounce it. I'd say spell it how most do. I think tis stupid to try and be different. You will only complicate things for the child. You can still call her Emma and spell her nickname however you want to. You don't have to spell her first name different cause of that.

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy and I wish you the best of luck. As far as the name goes, it is not one that I would choose because I think it sounds as if you are naming her after super model Iman, but it is your choice and I will not say anything negative.

Of your choices, I would go with Emaini. the other just does not look right, the two "M"s look to me like the name is being spelled wrong. Try to consider your little girl learning to spell her name and the troubles little kids have with doing that.

Again, I hope I have said nothing to offend, just giving my opinion, it is ultimately the choice of you and your husband.

I think you could call her Emma either way it's spelled. But I think the spelling with one M would be pronounced , "E mani". With 2 M's it seems like it'd be "EM Ani" Depends how you want it said!

Easy...is the first E a *short* or *long* sound? If its short, then u need the 2 m's. If its long, then only one.  Simply apply the rules of the English language.

(in case ur lost....a short E short is like in the word Ebony and a long E sound is like in the word Emmanuel)
